Cooling Vest Types We Manufacture

We manufacture five types of cooling vest, each using a different cooling method for a different climate, work duration, and budget. All five are available for OEM, ODM, and private label, and each can be customized in fabric, fit, branding, and packaging. The descriptions below explain how each one cools and which buyers it suits, so you can shortlist before you send a brief.

PCM cooling vest with phase-change packs Passive · power-free

PCM Cooling Vest

Frozen phase-change packs sit in sewn-in pockets and absorb body and ambient heat as they melt, cooling the wearer for several hours with no battery and no water. Two common formulations activate around 28°C and 21°C: the 28°C packs give a milder, longer effect for general outdoor work; the 21°C packs give a sharper cooling sensation for short, intense exposure. Packs are recharged by freezing or cold-water submersion and reused across shifts. Best for construction, warehousing, agriculture, and events where passive cooling matters.

Specify pack temperature, count, placement, shell & fit
Water-circulation cooling vest with tubing and pump Highest performance

Water-Circulation Cooling Vest

Chilled water is pumped through thin tubing stitched across the torso, drawing heat away continuously for as long as the reservoir stays cold. It is the highest-performance method we make and the choice for motorsport, heavy industry, medical, and defense use, where passive cooling is not enough. Specify tubing coverage (torso only, or extended to shoulders and arms), reservoir and pump type, connector standard, and a fluid-resistant shell. Supplied as a complete system or built to connect to a buyer’s existing cooling unit.

Specify tubing coverage, pump, connectors & shell
Fan cooling vest with rechargeable battery fans Light · battery-run

Fan Cooling Vest

Rechargeable battery fans pull outside air through the garment and move it across the skin, speeding sweat evaporation and lowering surface temperature. It is light, runs for hours on a battery, and works best in dry, moderately hot conditions and for high-exertion work. Specify fan count and position (single back-mounted or dual), speed settings, battery voltage to match existing accessories, and a shell fabric graded for dust and durability. A practical, mid-range option for outdoor labor, logistics, and field service.

Specify fan count, speeds, battery voltage & shell
Cooling fan jacket with long sleeves Sun + abrasion cover

Cooling Fan Jacket

The same battery-fan system as the fan vest in a long-sleeve shell, adding sun and abrasion coverage while keeping airflow across the upper body and arms. It suits outdoor trades and construction crews who need protection from the sun as well as cooling. Specify sleeve construction, fan layout, collar and cuff style, and shell fabric, including hi-vis and workwear-grade options. Manufactured alongside the fan vest so a buyer can offer both in one range.

Specify sleeves, fan layout, collar/cuff & shell
Ice-pack cooling vest with insulated insert pockets Entry-level · simple

Ice-Pack Cooling Vest

Reusable ice or gel packs sit in insulated pockets. It is the simplest cooling vest we make: the wearer swaps in fresh frozen packs to extend the cooling, with no battery or pump. Specify pocket layout and count, pack type and size, insulation, and shell fabric. A straightforward entry product for events, sports sidelines, first-aid and medical cooling, and any buyer wanting an entry-level cooling vest line to sell in volume.

Need cooling gear beyond vests? We also manufacture neck coolers, cooling towels, scarves, caps, and headbands — see Personal Cooling Products Manufacturer → For reusable gel and hot/cold packs, see Gel Ice Pack Manufacturer →

Ways to order

How You Can Order: OEM, ODM, Private Label, and Wholesale

There are four ways to work with us on cooling vests. Choose the one that matches how finished your product idea is and how much you want to customize. The exact specifications you can change are detailed further down in How We Customize Cooling Vests.

OEM

You bring your own design or technical spec, and we manufacture the cooling vest to it. Best when you already have a defined product.

ODM

You start from one of our existing cooling vest designs and adjust it: cooling method, fabric, fit, features. Best when you want a proven base and a faster path to sample.

Private Label

Your logo, woven or printed labels, hangtags, and retail packaging applied to any vest, on either an OEM or ODM order. An NDA is available before you share designs.

Wholesale / Stock

Standard cooling vests in bulk without customization, for buyers who want a faster turnaround and a known product.

End markets

Industries and Use Cases We Supply

Cooling vests are bought by very different end markets, and the right vest type changes with the use. We supply buyers serving:

Construction & industrial PPE
Heat-safety programs and site crews; usually PCM or fan vests, with hi-vis shell options.
Logistics & warehousing
Pickers and drivers in hot, enclosed spaces; fan and PCM vests for full-shift wear.
Agriculture, landscaping & outdoor labor
Long days in direct sun; PCM for power-free cooling, fan jackets for sun coverage.
Motorsport & racing teams
Drivers and pit crews needing maximum continuous cooling; water-circulation vests.
Sports, outdoor & event brands
Retail and team lines; ice-pack and PCM vests as accessible, brandable products.
Medical, elderly care & heat-sensitive users
Passive cooling for people who overheat easily; PCM and ice-pack vests.

If your end use is not listed, describe it in your brief and we will recommend the cooling method that fits the climate, duration, and budget.

Cooling vest fabric, fit, and logo customization options

Customization

How We Customize Cooling Vests

Customization on a cooling vest happens across five areas. For each, you tell us your requirement and target market, and we confirm what we will produce on the written spec before any sample is cut.

  • Cooling method and performance. Choose PCM (and which phase-change temperature, around 28°C or 21°C), water-circulation, fan, or ice-pack. We match pack weight, fan count, or tubing coverage to the cooling duration your end user needs.
  • Shell fabric and construction. Breathable mesh, ripstop nylon, workwear-grade canvas, hi-vis, or a fluid-resistant shell for water-circulation vests. We confirm seam construction and reinforcement points against your approved sample.
  • Fit and sizing. Adjustable side and shoulder straps, full size grading, and unisex, men’s, or women’s cuts. You provide your size chart or target market, and we grade to it.
  • Logo and branding. Screen print, heat transfer, embroidery, woven labels, and printed hangtags. You supply artwork and placement; we produce a branding mockup with the product sample.
  • Packaging. Poly bag, retail box, barcode and country-of-origin labeling, and master-carton marking to your wholesale or retail spec.

How they cool

Cooling Technologies: PCM, Water-Circulation, and Fan

The three active cooling methods we build into vests work differently, last for different lengths of time, and suit different climates. Understanding the trade-off helps you pick the right product for your buyers; we advise on this at the brief stage.

Cross-section detail of a cooling vest cooling layer
Inside the cooling core
PCM
Phase-change material

A sealed material that absorbs heat as it melts at a fixed temperature, then is re-frozen and reused. It needs no power and no water, runs for a few hours per charge, and is the most practical method for general outdoor and industrial wear. The trade-off is a finite cooling window per set of packs, which carrying spare packs extends.

H₂O
Water-circulation

Chilled water is pumped through tubing to remove heat continuously, for as long as the reservoir stays cold. It delivers the strongest, longest cooling, though it adds a pump, a reservoir, and weight. It is the right method only where passive cooling falls short, such as motorsport and heavy industry.

FAN
Fan airflow

Battery fans move air across the body to evaporate sweat. It is light and runs for hours on a rechargeable battery, and it performs best in dry heat and during high-exertion work. In very humid conditions, evaporation slows, so PCM is often the better choice there.

From brief to shipment

OEM Process and Production Lead Times

Every cooling vest order runs through the same six steps. The lead times shown are typical ranges; the exact timeline for your product and quantity is confirmed at the quotation stage.

1

Brief and spec sign-off

You send your product brief (vest type, target market, features, fabric, logo, packaging). We return a written technical specification, and both sides sign off before sampling begins.

2

Sampling

We produce a physical sample to the confirmed spec, in your colorways and sizes.

Typically ~7–15 working days
3

Sample review and sign-off

You evaluate the sample for cooling performance, fit, and finish. We revise if needed; the approved sample and spec become the binding production reference, with color tolerances documented.

4

Bulk production

Production runs against the signed sample, with in-line QC at cutting, sewing, and component integration (PCM packs, fan modules, tubing, or ice-pack pockets).

Typically ~25–45 days, by quantity
5

QC and functional testing

Before packing, finished vests are checked against the signed sample, and powered vests (fan and water-circulation) are functionally tested. Third-party inspection can be arranged at your request.

6

Packing and shipment

Vests are packed to your retail or wholesale spec, with shipping documentation prepared to your requirements, by sea, air, or courier.

Order types

Sample, Trial, and Bulk Orders

We handle three order types so you can verify a cooling vest before committing to volume. Minimums are confirmed per product at the quotation stage and are not the same for every vest: a simple ice-pack or PCM vest carries a different practical minimum than a component-heavy fan or water-circulation vest.

Step 1

Sample Order

One or more physical vests, produced with the same materials and process as bulk, for your internal review, fit testing, photography, and certification pre-assessment.

Step 2

Trial Order (Small Batch)

A short production run, through the full QC process, to test market response and confirm that bulk will match the signed sample at scale before you place a large order.

Step 3

Bulk Order

The full production run against the signed sample and confirmed spec. Payment terms and scheduling are confirmed at order placement.

An NDA is available before you share designs or specifications for a private-label vest.

In-house production

Cooling Vest Production at Our Factory

Cooling vests are cut, sewn, filled or assembled, and tested in-house, not sourced from another factory. Production is organized by process so each cooling method is built and checked by the team responsible for it.

Buying direct from the factory means technical answers from the people who build the vest, certification documents you can verify at the source, and bulk production held to the sample you approved.

Sourcing the right way

Sourcing Direct from the Factory vs. a Trading Company

A cooling vest is a technical product. When you source it direct from the China-based factory that builds it, the difference shows up in the answers you get and the documents you can verify.

What matters when buying cooling vests Direct from IceBear Care Through a Trading Company
Technical answers Questions on PCM phase-change temperature, fan and battery configuration, or tubing layout are answered by the people who build the vest. Technical questions are relayed to an underlying factory and back, with a lag and a risk of detail lost in translation.
Customization speed Spec changes, fabric substitutions, logo, and packaging are handled directly with the production team, and reflected in a revised sample quickly. Requests pass through an account manager; response is slower and you have limited visibility into whether the factory can do it.
QC and functional testing You can review in-line and pre-shipment QC records, and arrange third-party inspection with full factory cooperation. QC is managed at one remove; inspection reports may come from the trader rather than an independent party.
Certification routing We tell you which documents apply to your vest and market, which are available, and which need testing, at the quotation stage. Documents may be shared, withheld, or belong to a different factory than the one making your order.
Lead-time control Scheduling and shipping are managed in one place; any delay is identified and communicated directly. The trader depends on the factory’s schedule and passes on updates with a lag.

One supplier, more categories

One Factory for Cooling and Heating

Cooling vests are one of two production lines we run. The same factory also manufactures electric heated apparel and a full pet cooling and heating range, which lets seasonal and multi-category buyers consolidate suppliers and ship mixed categories together. We keep this page focused on cooling vests; for the other lines:

Compliance

Certifications for Cooling Vests

Certification requirements for a cooling vest depend on its type and on the market you sell into. We tell you which documents apply, which we can provide, and which would need testing, at the quotation stage. We do not list certificates we cannot produce documentation for.

Fabric and soft-goods vests

For PCM, ice-pack, and the shells of all vests — skin-contact textiles call for OEKO-TEX–type testing for harmful substances. We can support and arrange this testing for your target market.

OEKO-TEX–typeSkin-contact textiles

Powered vests

For fan and water-circulation vests with batteries and motors sold into the EU and similar markets, CE (electromagnetic compatibility and low-voltage safety) and RoHS (restricted hazardous substances) apply to the powered components. We can support and arrange CE / RoHS testing as required.

CE (EMC / LVD)RoHS

State your target market and retail channel in your brief, and we will confirm the applicable certifications and what is needed to meet them before you commit to production.

De-risking your order

How We Reduce Your Sourcing Risk

The most common failure in contract manufacturing is bulk goods that do not match the approved sample. Our process is built to remove that risk for cooling vest buyers:

Sample-first
You approve a physical cooling vest before any bulk runs.
Written spec & signed sample
Production is measured against the document and the sample you signed off, not a description. Color tolerances are documented in advance.
Functional testing on every powered vest
Fan and water-circulation vests are tested for airflow, fan operation, and connector integrity before shipment.
Honest scoping
We tell you what we can and cannot do, including which certifications we hold and which need testing, before you order.
NDA available
Request one before sharing designs for a private-label vest.
Direct response
Jack, our sales manager, is your single point of contact and replies within one business day.

A typical path

A PPE distributor sourcing PCM cooling vests for a hot-climate market starts with a sample to confirm pack temperature and fit, places a trial batch to validate sell-through, then scales to a bulk order on the signed sample. We work to that sequence so each step de-risks the next.
